✨ Splint Shop FAQ

We’ve gathered the most common questions we receive about our splints—everything from sizing and materials to care and shipping—so you can find answers quickly and feel confident in your order. If you don’t see your question here, please reach out to us anytime. We’re always happy to help make sure your splint fits well and feels right for you. 💛

How do I know my ring size for a splint?

You can use a standard ring sizer (like the ones used in jewelry stores) or a soft measuring tape, the second option only recommended if you're ordering an adjustable splint style.

If you’re unsure, we can send you a ring sizer and sizing instructions to help you get the perfect fit.

What if my splint doesn’t fit?

We want your splint to fit comfortably! Minor adjustments can often be done at home, but if the fit isn’t right, you can return the splint for resizing or exchange. We offer resizes at no cost, the splint will need to be sent back to us.

Can I wear my splint every day?

Yes! Our splints are designed for daily wear. Sterling silver and gold-fill options are durable for long-term use. Just be mindful with harsh chemicals and heavy manual work to extend their lifespan.

Can I wash my hands or shower with the splint on?

Sterling silver and gold-fill splints can get wet and be cleaned often. Brass splints may darken over time when exposed to water, but a quick polish will bring them back to shine.

What’s the difference between adjustable and non-adjustable splints?

Adjustable Splints

  • Made with round wire for flexibility

  • Can be gently opened or closed to allow for small size changes

  • A great option if your fingers tend to swell or fluctuate in size

  • Slightly lighter feel, with a bit of “give” when worn

Non-Adjustable Splints

  • Made with flat metal that lays smooth against the skin

  • Crafted to a fixed size for a more precise, tailored fit

  • Offers a secure, stable feel that doesn’t shift once sized correctly

  • Recommended if you prefer a sleek, structured look and consistent fit

Are these splints medical devices?

I’m a jeweler with over 14 years of experience making splints. Many of our original designs were created in collaboration with occupational therapists, but splints purchased here are jewelry-style supports. If you’re unsure whether a splint is right for your needs, we always recommend checking with a therapist.

Will my insurance cover this purchase?

Some customers have submitted invoices and received reimbursements, but it depends on your insurance provider. We’re happy to provide an invoice upon request.

What materials do you use?

We craft splints in sterling silver, brass, bronze, and gold-fill, with solid gold available by request. Each piece is handmade with attention to comfort and durability.

How long will it take to receive my splint?

Processing time is usually 3–7 business days. Shipping times vary depending on location. Tracking information will be sent once your order is on its way.

Do you accept returns or exchanges?

Yes, most splints can be resized or exchanged if needed. Please contact us within 20 days of receiving your order. (Custom solid gold splints are not returnable, but resizing is always offered at no cost.)

How durable are Brass and Bronze Splints?

Brass and bronze splints are sturdy metals that hold up well for daily wear. Over time, both can naturally develop a darker patina when exposed to air, water, or skin oils—some people love the antique look, while others prefer to keep their splints bright. If you’d like to restore the shine, a simple polish with a jewelry cloth or gentle metal cleaner will bring them back to their original finish. With regular care, your brass or bronze splint will stay strong and supportive for years.

How do I care for my splint/jewelry?

To keep your splint looking its best, gently clean it with mild soap and water, then dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. For a brighter shine, use a jewelry polishing cloth or a cleaner that’s safe for the specific metal (silver, brass, or bronze). Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach or acetone, and try to remove your splint when applying lotions or working with cleaning products. With a little regular care, your splint will stay beautiful and supportive for years to come.

Can I sleep with my splint on?

Yes, many customers do sleep with their splints on, especially if their joints tend to bend or hyperextend during the night. That said, comfort is important—if you find the splint pressing or causing stiffness while you sleep, it may be better to remove it and put it back on in the morning. Splints are designed for daily support, but you can decide what feels most comfortable for your body.

What happens if my splint breaks?

Our splints are made to be durable, but like any piece of jewelry, they can bend or break if put under too much pressure. If this happens, please reach out to us—we can usually reshape or repair the splint for you, and in some cases create a replacement piece. We want your splint to be comfortable and supportive, so don’t hesitate to contact us if you need help with a repair.
