How to Take Care of Your Sterling Silver and Plated Jewelry Pieces


Ever wonder what can you do to help take better care of your jewellery pieces ? A piece of jewellery can last a lifetime if is good taken care of, in this post, I'll give you a few tips that can help you with that. I'll start with Sterling Silver.


Care instructions for Sterling Silver Jewelry:

Sterling Silver is 92.5 percent Silver, and tarnish his caused by the copper in the Sterling Silver. That's the reason you should clean your Sterling Silver Jewelry after each use, then properly store it.

How to clean:

Clean your Sterling Silver Jewelry after each wear to keep the tarnish, dirt and oil buildup to a minimum. You can polish your Sterling Silver with a paste of baking soda and a soft toothbrush. In the palm of your hand rinse well and pat dry with a clean cloth.


Make sure your jewellery is completely dry before storing. To prevent tarnishing between wearings, store your jewellery in a Zip- top baggie or a jewellery box, to limit it's exposure to air.


Care instructions for 14k Yellow Gold or Rose Gold Plated Jewelry:

Gold plated pieces are an awesome alternative to the much more expensive solid karat gold. It's high in quality and with proper care and storage, you will have affordable jewellery that lasts.



Gold plating is an actual layer of gold pressure bonded to another metal such as brass or silver ( in our case ). The only thing that comes in contact with your skin is 14 karat gold or Rose Gold Fill.


It is strong, durable and resistant to tarnish.

How to clean:

Although Gold Filled jewellery will not tarnish, it will get dirty and needs to be washed off periodically. Clean it with a little warm water and a soft cloth. It's the best and simpler way to maintain the beauty of your jewellery.
